"Seasons of the Heart" Memorial Flower Garden
There are many ways we can honor and remember our loved ones who have died. One of the unique things Morgantown Hospice offers is a flower garden for planting a living memory of a loved one. A few of us hand dug the garden to get it started about eight years ago. A gentleman who attended our Support Group at the time wanted to donate the sign to identify the garden. We worked together to accomplish this and the name, Seasons of the Heart, seemed to reflect what people go through along their grief journey.
Now located along Maple Drive, the existing garden will be moved to its permanent home along J.D. Anderson Drive below Mon General Hospital. It will be accessible through the entrance to the Village at Heritage Point. The space there will allow expansion and future development of a more formal garden.
It is a future dream to have walking paths, benches, a gazebo or other form of shelter, raised bed planting areas for those who may need access from wheelchairs (or who just have sore knees as does this author), etc. For now, however, we are pleased to have the space to dream and to keep the garden for people in our community to enjoy and reflect on the love that is felt in the Seasons of the Heart.
